On behalf of my council, NHCN staff and membership, I would like to extend our best wishes to you and your loved ones for a prosperous and healthy 2016.

We welcome the New Year with anticipation, hope and vision.

Often we set New Year's resolutions to recognize the past and set intentions.

In addition, we must make living in the present our main purpose because when we recognize the gifts of the present, the future falls into place.

Our focus for the present must be about working hard, striving for success in our personal lives and as a community, loving and respecting ourselves and one another and maintaining a balance in life so that we continue to be connected spiritually.

We all face obstacles and hardships. However, we must take every opportunity to look at these challenges in a positive light as these challenges are often a learning experience. We must have faith in the Creator, as it is our faith that will carry us through difficult times. At the same time, we must remain grateful for continued blessings.

At this New Year let us enjoy the journey and not lose sight of our destination.

As stated by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step."

May God our Creator, continue to bless us and guide us now and into the future.
